Last weekend, the girls and I headed down to my folks' to help wish Pepere a belated birthday. (Dave was working on making the new windows weather-tight.)
Some shots and notes of the fun:
city girl meets the garden
strolling with Nana
collecting specimens
hanging with Pepere
Gavoning! of course!
Smoosh-mouthed kisses for Nana (not pictured here: up-the-nostril shots of Nana with Maggie going in for the kill - she couldn't get enough!)
Post-slobber sweets
M and Auntie Erin
Happy 64th, Pepere!

Do you love me?
Zoe doesn't ask a lot of questions yet - we've yet to hear the dreaded, incessant "Why?" But lately she has frequently paused to ask "Do you love me?"
It breaks my heart that that's the issue causing her enough concern to ask a question. Often, it comes after we're laughing it up or joking around, but more often it comes after a stern warning or something of the like. Sniff!
Yes, bug. I love you SOOOOOOO much.

fresh air and fun firsts
Last weekend, we joined Nana and Pepere in Manchester (!), WA for a bit of camping at the state park.
It was the first time camping for both Maggie and Zoe as well as Nana and Pepere's first time camping with tots since, well, since my brothers and I were tots, I guess.
It was *great*. Apparently there's nothing like LOTS of fresh air, a camp fire (with those "special camping cookies") and all the sights and sounds of the great outdoors to extract happiness, great behavior and FATIGUE from the girls. Love it.
There are lots of shots, but we didn't get shots of all the cuteness from the weekend because we were too busy enjoying it. I think these are pretty fun:
Zoe and her daddy on the ferry
Miss M on the boat, too
Mags and mom
Zoe - postcard greetings?
a snack for the road (?)
Settling in
feeding the fresh-air hungries :)
and succumbing to fresh-air-induced sleepiness!
little camper, little trooper
Scoping the 'beach'
Sweet feet
Weary little legs catching a lift from Daddy and Pepere
Mom and Zo taking a dip
Zoe's unwelcome visitor ;)
Maggie, oblivious to the creep-factor ;)
Family photo
snuggling the green bean
How to dismantle a s'more:
Yes. I was fixated on Maggie's excellent eating and sleeping habits over the weekend. I'm strongly considering popping a pup tent, throwing open the windows and lighting a camp fire in Maggie's room because before the big camp-out, we had yet to see (and have yet to see since) her so well-spent. I am ready for a bit of that at home...
Thanks to Nana and Pepere for the invite and the two extra sets of hands. We had a great time and look forward to doing it again!
