Spring in Washington can be a real treat most years. Last April was crisp and lovely. And these fine days put us in the mood for fresh air and blooming colors

Spring (2013) blossoms
Our final spring at Nana & Pepere’s Buckley house was perfect. We had fantastic weather – perfect for our little spring flowers. Lots of beautiful and colorful shots.
Love the progression in this set

Up and at ‘em!
And they’re OFF! we literally had to chase these girls on the hunt. I know there aren’t too many great shots of their ecstatic faces, but you can see by their body language that this was a great chase! (and some pretty cute outfits!)
I think they made off well, even if Maggie didn’t think so

Little* fishies (March 2013)
Maggie and Zoe continued with their swim lessons. Fortunately, we were able to keep our slot at the Mountlake Terrace Pool and even more fortunately than that (it’s a PITA getting IN), we kept Z & M’s lesson times at the same time! amazing and awesome that. Though, it meant having to find a spot somewhere strategically in a *very* busy swim pavilion where I could see them both at the same time. Sometimes, I think to be “that mom” and take pix.
This one’s not that interesting except that it lets me point out Maggie’s propensity towards being the only girl, quite like her mom, and standing tall with the boys (you’ll note she’s the tallest one in this trio).
Go Mag. Show ‘em what you’re made of, girlfriend!
And here’s our other swimmer – and a rare shot of them BOTH!

Posing like a big kid
We literally stumbled into a troop of Zoe’s classmates at the zoo one (in-service) day off. It was a lot of fun running around (sometimes literally) with a gang of monkeys. And Maggie loved playing with the big kids. Something tells me this girl will always find herself at ease with a troop a bit older than herself. That’s OK, Mag. You’ll find that sometimes you’re more appreciated there. And if not, at least you’ll be the youngest And Zoe, the perennial great big sis, is a gem for sharing.

To market, to market–April 2013
I decided that as long as I have the vacation hours (and we are short on vacation funding), the girls’ various days off from school should in fact be days off from school. It was a great chance to venture in a few new (to them) directions to explore our awesome area. Besides, if we’re going to live near the city to be near the city, we should make good of being near the city, no?
And a quick stop to see the Fremont bridge troll before meeting daddy at the dentist!
