There are *lots* of in-service days off to be taken throughout the school year…
And I’ve committed to taking them all off with the girls.
The first of the school year came quick (this was September 23rd or so) and normally, I’d plan some big outdoorsy outing so I was a bit at a loss as to what to do with the day when the weather was due to be completely crummy. So I sent the girls to bed the night before giddy with thoughts of a movie at the theater with popcorn and candy from Central Market in their heads.
No sooner did I sit down on the couch did I get an email from Zoe’s friend, Claire’s mom, inviting both girls to come over for a matinee and popcorn.
After a bit of bafflement, I opted to go with it and say yes to it all.
The girls loved this.
And wouldn’t you know, the day turned out to be gorgeous. Oh well. I don’t think it was totally wasted

Fitting right in–September 2013
George is a pretty great cat. He’s super mellow but young at heart – the perfect fit between our other two boys. Now, I’ll admit that this photo opp was slightly staged (I did not come to find George resting in between Pumpkin and Oscar), but the fact that I could even insert him to make such a tranquil image is pretty darned cool.

Nana’s new digs–September 2013
Nana and Pepere took to the girls for an overnight so that Dave and I could get a night on the town for our anniversary.
It was a lovely evening.
The weather was so great the next day, the water appeared more green than normal, but the girls didn’t seem to mind. I could barely get them out of it!
Thanks to Nana and Pepere for the good times…too bad our anniversary was such a fateful day at Sam’s Club…

Any Saturday morning–October 2013
With the new car, we are able to maximize our coverage/exposure on Saturdays. No longer is it one thing or another…it’s now one thing and another.
But some Saturdays last fall, we’d end up in the same place at once. It was nice. And it allowed me to grab some pix of Zoe – and her daddy! – in action on the field.

Introducing: Curious George–September 1, 2013
Mom got the cool new car, so Dad (aka, Dave) decided it was finally time for him to have his Russian Blue. Cool that the car and the new cat match, eh?
He’s a great addition to our set of boys. We snatched him from the Seattle Animal Shelter which had rescued from a hoarder’s home (along with 19 other kitties), rife with hissing cockroaches (). Really, in light of all that, he was a crap shoot, but Dave’s got a way of picking the great ones (with one mighty exception). George is a dapper fellow, unflappable and affable. He loves to play with the younger set but is mature enough to be well behaved around the elders. Perfect.
His first day at our house was spent in “captivity” in our bathroom while Oscar and Pumpkin got used to his being around.
So gorge that George
And here, I thought he was in for the kill, but was happily surprised he was just running up to give me a head-butt and a lick!
He and the other boys were doing so well that he was let out of captivity early; we closed the doors to let him romp around during a family movie night.
He got the hang of it fairly quickly

Dinner with friends–August 2013

Any Sunday afternoon–August 2013
Saturday is all about chores and parties and whatnot, but on any Sunday afternoon, you’re going to find us at the library or at the park or at the beach or just out and about.
This one had us doing a bit of library and the park. Funny that the library was not the library at the park (Richmond Beach Library has a park with a killer view, but they aren’t open on Sundays!) Anyways, this was a particularly cute summer day for the girls.
Partaking in some interactive civic art (they have these sprinkled around the city!) (the one moment they managed to SHARE). It was far too nice outside to while away the time on the kiddo computers, so it was off to the other library for the park.

The zoo, with Chris & Maddie (and Boby Dylan?)–August 2013
For a time that summer, Chris was off on Fridays with Maddie at the same time I was off with the girls. So, we lined up a jaunt to the zoo and had a great day.
Bob Dylan was there! of course it was a great day!
I love how in cahoots they all look!
Sometimes, you get sleepy and have to nap.
And sometimes, you manage to get a gorgeous shot of your girls
Great hanging with you, Chris and Maddie!
