Last year, (my youngest cousin) Danielle's graduation from college prompted the close-out of the inheritance my Pepere (Al) and Memere (Cis) set up for their 17 grandchildren. And I knew exactly how to spend that little chunk of change: a trip for the St. Alonzo's to New England to see the many places, friends and family that are still near and dear to me, 20+ years after my family left for Washington.
I think the trip would have had Memere and Pepere smiling. It did us!
And, even though we landed in Boston and were first warmly received by Uncle Skip and Auntie Pauline, I didn't pick up the camera until we made it to Maine. What can I say? a crack of dawn departure and all-day travel with a 3.5 and 5.5 year old will do that!
Maine arrival
We left the beach on the early end of the day to head up to see Greg, Amy and the boys in Maine. For us in Seattle, summer doesn't officially start until after the 4th of July, so its being July 3rd and 80+ degrees, the girls were a little 'new' to sunny fun in the sprinklers. But the boys were only too happy to show them the how it’s done in Maine!
Gnoshes, getting acclimated
Mom, when are we getting a puppy?
Next up: camp!
