Milestones–October 2013

The girls’ getting older means many of the obvious things – having to let Maggie practice brushing her teeth, Zoe tying her shoes – but there are a few things that came along this year that I didn’t really see coming.
October was pretty stellar, weather-wise, and Sundays are a great time for girl time, so when the two converged (good weather + girl time), I decided we should try something new: a bike ride outside of the ‘hood.
Awesome.
We drove over to the Interurban Trail (drove, yes…because the girls aren’t SO big that I want them crossing Aurora yet!) and parked in the middle of my intended track at the Bartells on 185th. The girls huffed it with me up one mile to Costco, back down again to Bartells. We stopped and hydrated and then headed south towards the bridge at Central Market, then back to Bartells. That’s four miles!
Not bad for our first real outing.

Can’t wait to take it up again next spring!

More futbal fun–October 2013

OK. More good action shots.
What you can’t exactly see but should from these pix is a healthy amount of improvement in Zoe’s soccer skills. She did a bit less trotting around and actually hustled and even saw the ball through to the goal. I love how much fun she looks to be having. Excellent.

Maggie–September 2013

A good little hostess:

a little dare devil (actually, I used to do this, but I would crouch in there under the cart…not surf!)
IMG_20130921_151526_310
a little willing for the tickle (I did this exact thing when I was little, too!)

and a little serious in her work (rather, play Winking smile)

Movie magic–September 2013

There are *lots* of in-service days off to be taken throughout the school year…
And I’ve committed to taking them all off with the girls.
The first of the school year came quick (this was September 23rd or so) and normally, I’d plan some big outdoorsy outing so I was a bit at a loss as to what to do with the day when the weather was due to be completely crummy. So I sent the girls to bed the night before giddy with thoughts of a movie at the theater with popcorn and candy from Central Market in their heads.
No sooner did I sit down on the couch did I get an email from Zoe’s friend, Claire’s mom, inviting both girls to come over for a matinee and popcorn.
After a bit of bafflement, I opted to go with it and say yes to it all.
The girls loved this.
And wouldn’t you know, the day turned out to be gorgeous. Oh well. I don’t think it was totally wasted Winking smile

Fitting right in–September 2013

George is a pretty great cat. He’s super mellow but young at heart – the perfect fit between our other two boys. Now, I’ll admit that this photo opp was slightly staged (I did not come to find George resting in between Pumpkin and Oscar), but the fact that I could even insert him to make such a tranquil image is pretty darned cool.

Nana’s new digs–September 2013

Nana and Pepere took to the girls for an overnight so that Dave and I could get a night on the town for our anniversary.
It was a lovely evening.

The weather was so great the next day, the water appeared more green than normal, but the girls didn’t seem to mind. I could barely get them out of it!

Thanks to Nana and Pepere for the good times…too bad our anniversary was such a fateful day at Sam’s Club…

Any Saturday morning–October 2013

With the new car, we are able to maximize our coverage/exposure on Saturdays. No longer is it one thing or another…it’s now one thing and another.
But some Saturdays last fall, we’d end up in the same place at once. It was nice. And it allowed me to grab some pix of Zoe – and her daddy! – in action on the field.
